WBEJ has a new Sports Broadcaster for Cyclone Football... Judge Stacy Street!
Long time WBEJ Radio Sports Broadcaster, John Holsclaw (Sr.), is taking a step back this season due to prolonged illness. Cyclone football fans will hear the play-by-play action on WBEJ from Tony Briggs. Briggs attended Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, Virginia, from 1985-89 and describes himself as being a student of the game for over 30 years. Briggs has served as both a coach and head coach during his years of involvement with Youth Club football. In 2017, Briggs joined WBEJ alongside Holsclaw as an announcer for the Cyclones football team. Briggs is the current President and a founding member of the Cyclone Touchdown Club. Additionally, he is in charge of loading, transporting, and unpacking the equipment trailer for the Cyclone football team.
WBEJ is pleased to welcome Stacy Street as their new Sports Broadcaster this season! Yes…we’re talking about Honorable Judge Stacy Street! Street was an all-conference Defensive End/Line Backer for Elizabethton High School from 1982-1985 for Coach Dave Rider and a member of the 1982 conference champions. He was also an all-conference baseball player for EHS during the same years for Coach Hack Hyder. From 1986-1988, Street was an assistant coach at T.A. Dugger Jr. High for Coach Jim Crowe. Following law school, he coached various youth teams as well as assisting Ryan Witten at Witten Huddle, the Witten Huddle Stars travel teams, and at various football camps throughout the region. For the last twenty-five (25) years Street has served as an attorney and judge.
WBEJ 107.9 FM / 1240 AM will broadcast the entire Cyclone football schedule including online at WBEJ.com. The first game is August 17th at home against Science Hill.
